She had, her whole life long,
been a chaser of the light
Always seeking
Sometimes stopping
Wondering when she would arrive
And then
One day
She turned to find
That she'd been shedding light
Birthing it
Her whole life long
It sprang forth from her fingers
It glistened on the just-left grass
It floated up and joined the stars
It wove into the past
When she laughed the light awakened
When she spoke it came to be
When she cried it shone, it goldened
Splattered, sprinkled, flowed and freed
The valleys that she had passed through
Were brighter for her having been there
The mountains boasted better views
The rivers and creeks glittered
And revealed their turquoise depths
Like never before
One day
She realized
She was the light
And she laughed
And danced
And went on laughing
And dancing
Forevermore
And the light burst forth
Never to be darkened
