Happy last week of January!
Sorry, I couldn't think of any other celebratory greeting...
So,
this week we had interviews and training with President and Soeur
Poznanski. It was wonderful, they talked about the story of Nehemiah in
the Bible and about the mission's motto for 2012, "We are doing a great
work and we cannot come down." They talked about how Nehemiah's motive
for rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem was to build a place for the
gathering of Israel, so in many ways our work is just a continuation of
his. One of my favorite parts was when they talked about the walls being
finished and everything and everyone being put back into their places,
they likened it to our work today, taking people who have forgotten who
they are and putting them back in their places; as Primary presidents,
home and visiting teachers, Young Men, Young Women, as sons and
daughters and sisters and brothers in this great eternal family of ours.
How lucky we are to know our place and that we are part of such a great
work.
I wish I could write more but I'm low on time! It was a really good training.
Then
when we got home we stopped by an inactive member, it was our first
time meeting him, and he graciously welcomed us and then showed us his
boxes where he had gathered up all his Church materials, and then
proceeded to spend an hour waving the Bible around and telling us about
all the Church doctrines that are wrong, and trying to convince us to
give up and go home to our families. We listened, praying and trying
hard not to laugh, and then asked him when he stopped for breath if he
read the Book of Mormon. We shared a scripture with him that kind of
hushed him and he finally let us leave. We walked out and kind of
laughed and sighed and hugged each other and talked about how glad we
were that experiences like that only built our faith.
The Book of Mormon really is the best tool, I love using it. And it's an
anti-apostasy! Yay! If only we could get apostates to read it...
Well lots more happened this week but my hour is more than up so I have to go!
Read the Book of Mormon! And the story of Nehemiah! Yay!
